Responding to the School-to-Prison-to-Deportation Pipeline

  • Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Stony Brook (UUFSB) 380 Nicolls Road Setauket- East Setauket, NY, 11733 United States (map)

The Suffolk County Chapter of the NYCLU invites you to their Annual Membership Meeting. The topic of discussion will be Suffolk County’s central role in the school-to-deportation pipeline and how we can put a stop to it.

We will discuss the impact of the School-to-Prison-to-Deportation Pipeline, how the local community has responded and how we could combat it. We will also look at the harmful ways the law enforcement narrative about gangs in Suffolk causes young immigrants to fear both the gangs and the government.

There will be a screening of the PBS Frontline documentary, “The Gang Crackdown,” followed by a panel discussion with youth leaders, parent advocates, attorneys, immigrant rights advocates and others.
